Mark Lewis is a seasoned technical translator and proofreader with a unique background that blends years of experience in both the UK and France. My journey started as a business analyst and software developer, but in 2012, I turned towards translating French to English, especially in areas like supply chain management, information systems, and industrial sectors.

With over a decade of experience in translating French to English in various technical fields, including supply chain management, information systems, and industrial sectors, Mark leverages his extensive knowledge and expertise to deliver precise and accurate translations.

England and France

I spent 8 years as analyst programmer, and business analyst in the UK, moving to France in 2000, where I took a job with a global PC vendor to develop and manage their purchasing database. In 2004, I set up my own business in Brittany, first in PC maintenance and then video transfer services, until 2018.

My experience in French to English translation started in 2012, became regular from 2015, and full-time since 2018, when I stared to specialize in technical translation.

The CAT tools I use are Phrase, SDL Trados, and have experimented with CaféTran, Déjà Vu, Smartcat, and accept all document types except Invision.

I ran a freelance media business in France, for 9 years to 2018, capturing Super 8, magnetic and digital tapes, glass plates, slides, negatives and paper photos. I did video editing and compilations, such as for the French John Fogerty Fan club, I filmed and edited the video for a local musical, and made a one-hour documentary about the changing countryside in rural Brittany.

I have worked on video and audio transcription projects for Com Translations (now Straker), France Television, and with Lylo Media Group for masterclasses with Eric Emmanuel Schmidt and Kevin Staut.
